LOIRE VALLEY, FRANCE
100% Sauvignon (blanc)
ripe peach, crushed rocks, white flower, acidity
The steep "Damned Mountain" of the village of Chavignol is the most-celebrated vineyard site in Sancerre. The wines produced here have significant more concentration and depth than what you might expect from the famed appellation. A portion of the wine is aged in old oak to aid in its complexity. Intensely mineral and powerful. A rare age-worthy cellar wine to improve over 5-6 years from vintage (or more).
Thomas-Labaille is an old school Sancerre producer in the famous Chavignol village, creating pure, artisanal wines. This wine is sourced from some of the oldest vines in Sancerre, around 80 years old and situated in the choicest sites of the steep Monts Damnes (the "damned mountain") vineyard.
